Interdisciplinary Studies and Writing
Welcome to the vibrant hub of intellectual exploration! At Cambridge Creation Lab, our Interdisciplinary Courses department pushes the boundaries of conventional learning, offering you a dynamic platform to explore the world through the convergence of diverse disciplines.
Overview
The notions of creativity, design, and interdisciplinarity have extensive and significant historical backgrounds. Creativity arises from combining separate thinking frameworks, necessitating the dynamic incorporation of untried mental pictures and ideas from the imagination or memory. Interdisciplinary studies include using many disciplines to address complex problems or questions that a single subject cannot adequately resolve. Interdisciplinary study allows us to combine information and thinking methods from other fields, resulting in cognitive progress that empowers us to address real-world challenges from a distinct viewpoint. By engaging in discussions, completing written projects, and participating in guided activities, students will develop their skills in using various forms of media to investigate their chosen academic fields thoroughly. Our courses concentrate on the methodologies and approaches used in various fields, exploring different avenues of inquiry and fostering interdisciplinary connections.
Assessment and grading will mostly rely on a research proposal and presentation. Every student must create a comprehensive literature review on a subject connected to at least two academic fields. Additionally, they must perform thorough research to produce a project with tangible results. Interdisciplinary studies enhance comprehension of complex matters. Many disciplinary methods oversee and correct a single disciplinary technique's limitations.
By the end of each course, students will be able to:
- Utilize academic writing standards across different texts and genres while determining methods to provide additional chances for creative exploration relevant to their career goals.
- Attendees will learn how art, scientific research, and design methods may effectively interact with the public domain.
- This will result in the growth of specialized languages, instruments, and concepts and foster the development of new types of multidisciplinary expertise.
- Students will develop the skills to create and produce immersive experiences communicating complicated concepts and phenomena through data and experience design.
- Utilize their proficient writing talents to generate influential movements that inspire action and facilitate meaningful change.
- Express your thoughts clearly and authentically, focusing on the interactive and reflective nature of experimental, self-aware, and critical artistic approaches.
- Students participate in the writing and analysis process by creating and substantiating ideas, composing drafts, and using criticism to revise and edit their work.
- Students learn to use such resources to research, develop, question, and modify a concept.
- Our courses examine how literature in conversations with science reflect concepts of selfhood, language, authority, voice, and community using aesthetic, historical, psychological, and cultural views.
All students enrolling in these courses must possess a proficient command of the English language to effortlessly comprehend recorded videos and textual class lectures and effectively engage in writing and spoken class discussions.

Our courses teach students to synthesize and integrate ideas, concepts, and evidence from several academic viewpoints and think like social scientists. We designed these courses to be accessible to a child's imagination and encourage independent thinking and creativity because interdisciplinary learning involves tackling questions, problems, or topics that are too large or complicated for a single subject or profession to handle. Literature, visual arts, architecture, science, and music shall be seamlessly integrated.
By the end of each course, students will be able to:
- Spontaneously reconstruct their imagination using various "knowing disciplines."
- Build critical and analytical learning capabilities.
- Map interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary connections.
- Develop interests outside of what has been taught in books and the school curriculum.
- Acquire the skills to incorporate creativity or conception into projects.
- Cultivate foundational research abilities at an early stage.
- Write with originality.
- Think independently.

Instructor Detail
Ivaana Rungta is a music researcher, lyrical storyteller, and sound artist in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She is the Founder and Director of CCL. She obtained a degree in English Literature, Theatre, and Music. She had been instructing secondary and tertiary level pupils for 12 years until she decided to concentrate exclusively on educating her son at home. Following her son's acceptance into MIT at age 15, she rediscovered her enthusiasm for writing on many topics that fascinated her, such as dreams, feelings, memories, challenges, disorder and organization, art, and culture. She explored new worlds of experience beyond the ordinary by incorporating genuine discoveries and scientific research.
The completion of her project, titled "A Square and a Half-The Colors are Sounding," took her a span of 5 years. This project serves as a tribute to scientific research and aims to establish a sense of place and an open process. It also seeks to provide a fresh perspective on the concealed aspects of creation by exploring architectural spaces, the interplay between art and mathematical concepts, and the systematic examination and integration of poetic and aesthetic intuition.
