When should we begin preparing for college?
I firmly believe that no universal guideline exists for students or their guardians at the beginning of college preparation. It mostly concerns our methodology in fostering our child’s overall development and cultivating their curiosity and creativity to discern their aptitudes and lack thereof. Few occurrences in early childhood are as intriguing—and enigmatic—as the concept of play, mostly due to our lack of comprehension of its mechanics. Investigation and learning are crucial for the progression of science. Scholars have historically posited that infants acquire knowledge via hands-on experiences; however, concrete evidence has been lacking until now, along with a restricted understanding of how the apparently chaotic nature of exploratory play may relate to cognitive mechanisms thought to enhance learning. A recent study indicates that exploratory conduct is influenced by both sensory innovation and the formal structure of data.
We are fascinated by children’s ability to establish new goals, tasks, and constraints, particularly their willingness to sacrifice little benefits. The consequences of the many ostensibly unnecessary costs children encounter during play are unclear, especially when they have developed the necessary motor skills. After much investigation, play—the fundamental activity of our most skilled learners—remains difficult to grasp. The apparent “ineffectiveness” of play may be mitigated by focusing on how children learn and recognizing that even the most serious subjects can be understood through lighthearted engagement.
My experiences with my son and numerous students globally suggest that when parents are engaged with their children, regardless of whether they are enrolled in public or private institutions rather than being homeschooled, the preparation for college has effectively commenced as long as their creativity is encouraged and their interest in learning is sustained.

Parents must assess fundamental aspects of when and why children either participate in exploration or refrain from it, necessitating comprehension of how children determine the value of discovery and identify appropriate exploratory behaviors. The journey starts with inquisitiveness, then igniting the creative faculties. Upon this occurrence, youngsters may formulate new understanding by accumulating more information. College preparation starts now, rather than at the designated “high school age.”
